Turkmenistan national flag consisting of a green field (background) with a white crescent and five stars; near the hoist a claret (Bordeaux-red) stripe bears five carpet patterns and an olive wreath. The flag’s width-to-length ratio is 1 to 2.

Story:
The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 5:3. On the green flag face, near the flagpole, there are five kinds of carpet patterns and olive branches from top to bottom. There is a white crescent moon and five white stars in the middle of the top. Green is the traditional color of the country. The patterns of the five carpets represent the tribes of the five Turkmen ancestors and their mutual unity and friendship. The olive branch symbolizes peace and neutrality. The new moon symbolizes peace and happiness. The five stars represent the five provinces of the country.
